In 2007/2008 we moved into a new space for the EdTech Center. To help get a sense for the space I model it in a few different ways.
First I used a simple 3d modeling application – google sketchup – but the fact that it still, basically, only let others view images of the proposed space it was not effective at giving a true “sense” of the space.
Ergo, Second Life seems the perfect fit. It allowed my to create a truy immersive space that we could walk around in and think about in ways we could not if we were just looking at items on paper.
I then co-presented on the topic and the Campus Technology Expo in Boston, and the New Media Centers Conference at Princeton, in 2009.
